Our Campus

The Richardson Maritime Museum includes four acres of waterfront property featuring two main buildings and a growing outdoor collection of maritime artifacts. It’s a place where history, craftsmanship, and community come together.

Exhibit Building – By Appointment

Our Exhibit Building is currently undergoing renovation to better tell the stories of the Chesapeake’s working watercraft and the people who built and sailed them. While closed for regular hours, the building can be visited by appointment — please call 410.221.1871 to schedule.

Boatworks Building – By Appointment

The Ruark Boatworks offers a great opportunity to see what our volunteers and artisans are working on. Please email office@richardsonmuseum.org or call 410.221.1871 to schedule a personal tour.

Free “Build a Boat” Classes – Wednesday Evenings

Looking to get involved? Every Wednesday from 7 PM – 9 PM, we offer free adult Build-a-Boat classes. No appointment needed. Just show up ready to roll up your sleeves and learn from experienced boatbuilders — beginners welcome!

Outdoor Self-Guided Tours – Dawn to Dusk, Daily

The campus also features 10 stand-alone examples of historic maritime equipment and vessels, available for self-guided outdoor tours every day from dawn to dusk. Interpretive signage is currently being developed and will be installed in summer 2025 — we appreciate your patience as we enhance your experience.
